PRESSR: Qatar Financial Centre and Ashmore Group sign MoU to boost asset management growth in Qatar
Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), one of the Middle East's leading financial and business centers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashmore Group, a leading global asset manager specializing in emerging markets, with approximately USD 46.2 billion under management.
This partnership aims to expand capital markets activities in Qatar and support the local asset management sector by enhancing knowledge exchange and developing innovative investment solutions. Key provisions of the memorandum include fostering local talent in the financial services sector and supporting Qatar's vision to build a diversified, knowledge-based economy.
Commenting on the importance of this partnership , Mr. Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Financial Centre, said: “By combining Ashmore Group’s extensive expertise in asset management with the QFC’s efforts to support financial innovation, this partnership will serve as a powerful catalyst for long-term strategic development. Through this collaboration, we aim to support the growth of the asset management sector in Qatar and enhance the local capital markets by applying global best practices and adopting innovative investment solutions.”
For his part, Mr. Mark Coombs, Chief Executive Officer of Ashmore Group PLC, said: “Ashmore has a long history of investing in the Qatari market, and through this partnership with the Qatar Financial Centre, we look forward to achieving further development in the financial services sector in Qatar in the coming years. This MoU builds on the significant achievement recently achieved by the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) with the Ashmore Group joining its platform and launching its office in Qatar. It also represents an important step in consolidating its long-standing relationship with the country. This new office will support local investment activities and enhance communication between regional investors, contributing to strengthening Qatar's position as a leading and growing destination for asset management.
