In April 2024, a study titled "Chosen Cities," conducted by The Boston Consulting Group, revealed a list of the world's most desirable cities to live and work in .

The study indicated that the cities of Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait City, Riyadh, and Mecca share many similarities in terms of strengths .

While the Middle Eastern cities evaluated vary in their overall ranking, most have improved their ratings over the past year, demonstrating the increasing quality of life in cities across the region .

The study showed that Dubai ranked third globally after London and Amsterdam, followed by Berlin, while Abu Dhabi tied for fifth place with Singapore, followed by Tokyo, then New York, Barcelona, and finally Sydney .

It's worth noting that the study's researchers surveyed more than 50,000 people from 79 cities, asking them to evaluate more than 150 economic, social, and political metrics .

These measures include five dimensions: economic opportunities, quality of life, social capital, communication with authorities, and speed of change .

Dubai and Abu Dhabi were among the five Middle Eastern cities that ranked in the top ten in their respective categories, with Dubai coming in eighth and Abu Dhabi ninth .

In the consulting group's city rankings, Dubai was classified as a middle-weight city, with a population of more than 3 million, but less than 10 million (such cities are described as megacities) .

In the economic opportunities dimension, Dubai scored relatively well, 71 out of 100, indicating that the city provides a highly favorable environment for businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive .

The UAE is among the fastest-growing cities in the world and has significantly diversified its economy over the years, investing in sectors such as tourism, real estate, finance, and transportation .
