UN High Commissioner for Human Rights: Systematic Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy and water infrastructure may amount to international crimes
GENEVA, Feb 23 (Reuters) - The world is witnessing the fiercest competition for power and resources since World War II and widespread human rights abuses in conflicts in Sudan, Gaza, Myanmar and Ukraine, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Monday.
He added in the opening of the Human Rights Council, "A fierce competition for power and control over resources is unfolding on the global stage at a rate and intensity that we have not witnessed in the past 80 years."
He noted that the situation in Gaza remains catastrophic and the aid allowed in is insufficient to meet the enormous needs.
