Matrouh, Egypt, May 14 (Reuters) - Residents of the Abu Ghleila area in the city of Sidi Barrani in northwest Egypt were surprised by the appearance of about 12 bodies, believed to be those of illegal immigrants, after they were thrown onto the shore by sea waves, along with wooden pieces from a boat.
After informing the Matrouh Governorate Ambulance Authority, which is located 140 kilometers east of Sidi Barrani, it dispatched vehicles that transported the bodies to Matrouh General Hospital.
Medical sources in Matrouh confirmed that the external examination and initial inspection showed that most of the bodies were decomposed and difficult to identify , while the Public Prosecution in Matrouh is conducting an examination of the incomplete bodies.
Sources indicated that the search for other bodies is still ongoing.
A medical source indicated that if other bodies in a similar state of decomposition are recovered, samples will be taken for DNA analysis to determine the victims' identities and ages.
