ATHENS, April 29 (Reuters) - Greece said on Wednesday it had agreed with Qatar to boost cooperation in several areas including trade, energy and defense, in an extension of an agreement first signed in 2024.
The office of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that the Prime Minister and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed bilateral relations and investment opportunities in infrastructure, energy, and data centers in Greece.
In translated remarks following his meeting with Mitsotakis in Athens, Sheikh Tamim said, "There are also other areas of cooperation that we have discussed recently, such as defense cooperation... Given the events taking place around the world, I think it is very important to strengthen these relations as well."
Greece has been seeking to attract investment from Qatar, a major global gas supplier, since the two countries agreed in 2024 to strengthen their ties.
