WASHINGTON, May 25 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that countries including Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey should collectively join the Abraham Accords as part of U.S. efforts to reach an agreement with Iran.
Trump stated that he spoke on Saturday with the leaders of those countries, as well as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, which had already signed the agreements.
"I have made it clear that after all the efforts the United States has made to try to resolve this complex dilemma, it is imperative that all of these countries, at least simultaneously, sign the Abraham Accords," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social today.
Trump stressed that these countries would be pleased to have Iran join these agreements, once an agreement is reached to end the war.
Trump also stated that negotiations with Iran were "going very well," but he did not indicate that an agreement was close.
