NEW YORK, May 14 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Thursday, boosted by gains in technology shares, as investors assessed generally strong economic data and awaited developments from Beijing, where U.S. President Donald Trump held a key meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
All three major U.S. stock indexes posted gains, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ending the session at record closing levels.
Preliminary data indicated that the S&P 500 rose 57.39 points, or 0.77 percent, to 7,501.64, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 232.88 points, or 0.88 percent, to 26,635.83. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 374.79 points, or 0.75 percent, to 50,067.99.
