Baghdad, Iraq: In cooperation with its strategic partner Mindware, Huawei, the leading global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, hosted the “ISP Summit 2023” in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The event brought together leaders of the communications and information technology sector to discuss the growing demand for broadband services and explore opportunities to accelerate the deployment of the next generation of fully optical Internet networks in line with the acceleration of digital transformation in the sector and all other sectors and industries related to it.

Under the slogan “The development of fixed telecommunications networks unleashes green digitization,” the summit formed a distinguished communication platform for leaders in the Internet service provider sector through which they exchanged opinions and information about trends in the field of entirely optical networks in light of the best global models in this field. Participants also reviewed opportunities to benefit from leading solutions and technologies in the optical field with the aim of establishing a more flexible and intelligent Internet infrastructure. The event witnessed the participation of experts, managers and decision makers of the Internet service provider sector from both the public and private sectors.

With 6 key upgrades including aesthetics, speed, rate, coverage, roaming, synchronization and service, this product delivers ultra-fast Wi-Fi coverage and a high-quality digital experience in every part of the home.

In the field of ultra-wideband access, Huawei showcased 50G PON, the industry's first commercial solution to meet the growing demand for broadband bandwidth in universities, industrial connectivity, enterprises and homes. In addition, this unique solution achieves a 25% increase in optical power budget and supports existing ODN deployment without the need for reconnecting cabling.

It is noteworthy that Iraq has recently witnessed a massive expansion of network coverage. In 2022, the Iraqi General Telecommunications and Postal Company, operating under the umbrella of the Iraqi Ministry of Communications, leased the rights to operate optical networks in 15 governorates to 16 Internet service providers, with the aim of increasing the coverage of local access networks to 80% within three years. The ISP Summit 2023 represents another milestone in the cooperation between Huawei and Mindware and embodies their continued commitment to establishing a smarter Internet infrastructure and advancing digital transformation and economic and social development in Iraq by making the most of technological solutions and advanced technologies.
