Live : Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Basil Abdul Hannan, said that he expects his country's economy to grow by more than 1% in 2025 after years of contraction.
He added to CNBC Arabia that the Central Bank is working to stabilize the exchange rate as much as possible, revealing that the trade balance deficit has reached about 76%, but he also indicated that the number is inaccurate.
The Minister explained that the currency will not be changed in the foreseeable future, stressing that databases of smuggled funds estimated at hundreds of billions are now being collected and compiled, and preparations are being made to demand these funds from the countries in which they are located.
The minister added that the complete lifting of support is linked to the increase in the state's income, noting that it will be gradual, stressing that $120 is the minimum monthly amount to provide a decent life for the Syrian citizen.
