Berkshire Hathaway's Q2 Net Profit Doubles to $25.67 Billion, Accelerates Share Buybacks

Berkshire Hathaway (Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class A(BRK.A.US) Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class B(BRK.B.US) ) reported robust growth in operating earnings for the second quarter, alongside a significant increase in its stock repurchase activity.
On August 8, Berkshire released its latest financial data, showing that operating profit for the second quarter of 2026 reached $12.983 billion, up approximately 16% from $11.16 billion in the same period last year. For the first half of the year, operating profit totaled $24.329 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of about 17%.
Meanwhile, the company repurchased approximately $4.5 billion worth of its own shares in the second quarter, bringing its total buybacks for the first half of the year to $4.8 billion—a notable acceleration compared to previous periods.
Benefiting from a substantial rebound in unrealized gains from its equity investment portfolio, Berkshire's GAAP net profit for Q2 nearly doubled year-over-year to $25.67 billion, a 107% increase from $12.37 billion in the same period last year. For the first half of 2026, net profit surged to $35.773 billion, representing approximately 111% year-over-year growth.
