Brazil to contest planned US tariffs, finance minister says
BRASILIA/SAO PAULO, June 15 (Reuters) - Brazil's Finance Minister Dario Durigan said on Monday the country will deploy its strongest arguments against a proposed 25% U.S. tariff on many Brazilian imports, adding he hopes the measure will not be implemented.
"We will defend the country to the end. President Lula may send a letter or call President Trump. I have also said I am available to speak with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and (Trade) Minister Marcio Rosa is in contact with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer," he said.
