CBOT Trends-Wheat up 15-21 cents, corn and soybeans up 1-4 cents

- The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Wednesday.

WHEAT - Up 15 to 21 cents per bushel

  • CBOT wheat Wv1 sharply higher on concerns about tightening global supplies and shipping disruptions due to escalating hostilities between Russia and Ukraine.

  • Shipping attacks in the Sea of Azov restricted exports of Russian wheat, while Ukraine has lost about a third of its export capacity via its Black Sea ports due to intensifying Russian missile and drone attacks.

  • France's farm ministry forecast the country's 2026 soft wheat production at 32.0 million metric tons, down 4% from last year and 2% below the average of past five years.

  • The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association purchased an estimated 98,150 metric tons of U.S. milling wheat in a tender on Wednesday.

  • CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU26 was last up 20-1/2 cents at $6.65-1/2 per bushel. K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU26 was last up 23-1/2 cents at $7.01-1/2 per bushel, and Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU26 was last up 16 cents at $6.74 per bushel.

CORN - Up 1 to 4 cents per bushel

  • Corn futures Cv1 higher on concerns about hot, dry Midwest weather this week and spillover support from stronger wheat futures.

  • Midwest temperatures are expected to remain high this week and peak between 95 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit, forecasters said.

  • Brazil's national crop agency Conab forecast the country's 2025/26 corn crop at a record 141.73 million metric tons, despite a slight drop in productivity.

  • CBOT December corn CZ26 was last up 4 cents at $4.64-1/2 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 1 to 4 cents per bushel

  • Soybean futures Sv1 firmer amid concerns about hot, dry Midwest weather this week and spillover support from sharply higher wheat futures.

  • The National Oilseed Processors Association is due to release its June crush report on Wednesday. Analysts polled by Reuters, on average, expect the June crush at 203.989 million bushels, reflecting an uptick in the daily processing pace following a dip in May to the lowest point in eight months.

  • CBOT November soybeans SX26 were last up 1-1/4 cents at $11.92-1/4 per bushel.
