WALL STREET RALLIES AS ATTENTION TURNS TO NVIDIA RESULTS

Wall Street ended higher, with chip stocks surging ahead of Nvidia's quarterly results after the bell as investors focus on AI rally and heady valuations.

Nvidia NVDA.O rose 1.3% as traders turned to a quarterly report seen as key in a market driven to record highs in recent months by optimism about AI technology.

The PHLX chip index .SOX jumped 4.5%, adding to gains in recent weeks related to heavy demand for memory chips, central processors, networking gear and other components as hyperscalers race to build AI data centers.

Micron Technology MU.O jumped 4.8% and Broadcom AVGO.O climbed 1.6%.

Also supporting stocks, the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield eased to about 4.58%. It had risen for three straight days and touched a 16-month high due to worries that inflation from high oil prices could force the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.

With Wednesday's gain, the S&P 500 is down about 1% from its record high close on May 14, and it is up almost 9% in 2026.
