U.S. stocks traded mostly higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 100 points on Friday.

Following the market opening Friday, the Dow traded up 0.19% to 53,673.21 while the NASDAQ slipped 0.01% to 26,541.21. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.09% to 7,737.82.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Communication services shares jumped by 1.1% on Friday.

In trading on Friday, information technology stocks fell by 0.3%.

Top Headline

The Chicago Business Barometer dipped to 47.1 in August from 57.6 in the previous month and also missing market estimates of 58.3.

Equities Trading UP
         

  • FingerMotion Inc (NASDAQ:FNGR) shares shot up 309% to $0.71.
  • Shares of Quoin Pharmaceuticals Ltd – ADR (NASDAQ:QNRX) got a boost, surging 43% to $7.39 following back-to-back pre-market updates detailing positive clinical trial results and a major institutional financing package.
  • Cyabra Inc (NASDAQ:CYAB) shares were also up, gaining 58% to $0.49 as the company secured a six-figure annual contract with a leading interactive entertainment company to protect its player community.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • BioXcel Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:BTAI) shares dropped 73% to $0.20 after the company announced it filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
  • Shares of Kaixin Holdings (NASDAQ:KXIN) were down 46% to $0.81.
  • Antelope Enterprise Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:AEHL) was down, falling 35% to $3.30 after the company announced an $18.99 million private placement of 15 million Class A ordinary shares at $1.266 per share with warrants for 15 million shares at $0.50/share.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 1.1% to $82.63 while gold traded down 0.1% at $4,661.10.

Silver traded up 3.2% to $71.675 on Friday, while copper rose 0.4% to $6.7175.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.4%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.6%, London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.1%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.5%, while France’s CAC 40 jumped 1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mostly higher on Friday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining 0.41%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gaining 0.08%, China’s Shanghai Composite falling 0.11% and India’s BSE Sensex gaining 0.43%.
