U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 100 points on Thursday.

Following the market opening Thursday, the Dow traded up 0.25% to 53,902.41 while the NASDAQ rose 0.23% to 26,649.79. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.29% to 7,771.38.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Real estate shares jumped by 0.7% on Thursday.

In trading on Thursday, energy stocks fell by 0.7%.

Top Headline

The Producer Price Index (PPI) was unchanged in July, coming in below the 0.2% monthly rebound economists expected after June’s upwardly revised 0.1% decline, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday.

The annual producer inflation rate eased to 4.7%, down from 5.5%, and below the 4.9% consensus.

Equities Trading UP
         

  • XChange TEC.INC (NASDAQ:XHG) shares shot up 554% to $5.98 after the company announced intent to acquire First Cycle, INC.
  • Shares of DEFSEC Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:DFSC) got a boost, surging 108% to $2.58 after the company reported third-quarter financial results.
  • FGI Industries Ltd (NASDAQ:FGI) shares were also up, gaining 55% to $7.50 after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter adjusted EPS results and issued FY26 sales guidance with its midpoint above estimates.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Leslie’s Inc (NASDAQ:LESL) shares dropped 38% to $0.82 after the company reported worse-than-expected third-quarter financial results and withdrew its FY26 guidance.
  • Shares of Cellebrite DI Ltd (NASDAQ:CLBT) were down 35% to $9.95 after the company reported worse-than-expected second-quarter sales results and issued weak third-quarter sales guidance.
  • Founder Group Ltd (NASDAQ:FGL) was down, falling 37% to $0.49.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 2.6% to $81.12 while gold traded down 0.6% at $4,441.40.

Silver traded down 0.6% to $65.315 on Thursday, while copper rose 0.1% to $6.6160.

Euro zone

European shares were mixed today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.1%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.5% London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.4%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.2%, while France’s CAC 40 fell 0.1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining 1.16%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index falling 0.17%, China’s Shanghai Composite declining 0.50% and India’s BSE Sensex rising 0.15%.
