Engie posts first quarter earnings in line with expectations

- French utility Engie ENGIE.PA met expectations when it reported a drop in first-quarter earnings on Thursday, as warmer weather lowered French gas sales and deliveries.

The company, which produces, transports and sells gas and electricity, said earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), excluding nuclear, came to 3.4 billion euros, down 8.4% compared to the same period year earlier.

Analysts expected 3.4 billion euros, according to a consensus gathered by LSEG.
