EverQuote, Inc. (NASDAQ:EVER) Released Earnings Last Week And Analysts Lifted Their Price Target To US$29.00
EverBank Financial Corp. EVER | 0.00 |
EverQuote, Inc. (NASDAQ:EVER) just released its quarterly report and things are looking bullish. Results were good overall, with revenues beating analyst predictions by 2.5% to hit US$195m. Statutory earnings per share (EPS) came in at US$0.53, some 2.6% above whatthe analysts had expected. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. Readers will be glad to know we've aggregated the latest statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their mind on EverQuote after the latest results.
Following the latest results, EverQuote's seven analysts are now forecasting revenues of US$799.9m in 2026. This would be a modest 5.9% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to plunge 39% to US$1.97 in the same period. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$796.1m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$2.08 in 2026. The analysts seem to have become a little more negative on the business after the latest results, given the small dip in their earnings per share numbers for next year.
Despite cutting their earnings forecasts, the analysts have lifted their price target 11% to US$29.00, suggesting that these impacts are not expected to weigh on the stock's value in the long term. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. The most optimistic EverQuote analyst has a price target of US$34.00 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at US$25.00. These price targets show that analysts do have some differing views on the business, but the estimates do not vary enough to suggest to us that some are betting on wild success or utter failure.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. The period to the end of 2026 brings more of the same, according to the analysts, with revenue forecast to display 12% growth on an annualised basis. That is in line with its 14% annual growth over the past five years. Compare this with the broader industry (in aggregate), which analyst estimates suggest will see revenues grow 16% annually. So it's pretty clear that EverQuote is expected to grow slower than similar companies in the same industry.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing to take away is that the analysts downgraded their earnings per share estimates, showing that there has been a clear decline in sentiment following these results. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. We note an upgrade to the price target, suggesting that the analysts believes the intrinsic value of the business is likely to improve over time.
Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have forecasts for EverQuote going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
