Germany is prepared to help secure peace in Middle East, Merz says
EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, June 16 (Reuters) - Germany is prepared to participate in helping to preserve peace in the Middle East following an interim deal between Iran and the United States to end the war in the region, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Tuesday.
"We have always said that we are ready to play our part. Indeed, we have already sent the first mine-clearing boats or ships to the region," he said at the G7 summit in the French lakeside resort of Evian-les-Bains.
