Have Insiders Sold Claritev Shares Recently?
Claritev CTEV | 0.00 |
We'd be surprised if Claritev Corporation (NYSE:CTEV) shareholders haven't noticed that an insider, William Mintz, recently sold US$289k worth of stock at US$34.24 per share. That sale was 31% of their holding, so it does make us raise an eyebrow.
Claritev Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Executive VP & Chief Digital Officer Michael Kim made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$429k worth of shares at a price of US$14.30 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$42.22), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 113.66k shares worth US$2.1m. But insiders sold 8.43k shares worth US$289k. In the last twelve months there was more buying than selling by Claritev insiders. Their average price was about US$18.29. We don't deny that it is nice to see insiders buying stock in the company. However, we do note that they were buying at significantly lower prices than today's share price. Insider Ownership Of Claritev
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Claritev insiders own 8.7% of the company, worth about US$52m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Claritev Tell Us?
It is good to see recent purchasing. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. Given that insiders also own a fair bit of Claritev we think they are probably pretty confident of a bright future. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. For example, Claritev has 4 warning signs (and 2 which are a bit concerning) we think you should know about.
