IMF says Venezuela has not requested financing from the global lender
WASHINGTON, May 14 (Reuters) - Venezuelan authorities have not requested financing from the International Monetary Fund, IMF spokeswoman Julie Kozack said on Thursday.
Kozack told reporters that the Fund was aware of Venezuela's announcement initiating external debt restructuring, but had not been involved in the process so far.
The IMF last month said it was resuming deals with the South American country that had been paused since 2019. As a result, Venezuela had access to its Special Drawing Rights or IMF assets, which JPMorgan has estimated are worth about $5 billion.
