- Tata Group's Voltas VOLT.NS reported a sharp fall in fourth-quarter profit on Thursday as higher input costs and a weaker rupee squeezed margins, even as revenue inched higher and demand for cooling products improved.

Here are the details:

  • Consolidated net profit fell 52% to 1.16 billion Indian rupees ($12.1 million) in the January–March quarter, from 2.41 billion rupees a year earlier.

  • Revenue from operations stood at 48.88 billion rupees for the quarter, up from 47.67 billion rupees a year earlier.

  • Voltas said its unitary cooling products segment, which includes room air conditioners, supported quarterly performance as the company pushed premium products and expanded distribution.

  • But profitability was hit by elevated input costs. Geopolitical disruptions created volatility in raw material availability, logistics, energy costs, and currency markets, Voltas said.

  • The company said its unitary cooling products segment is entering the summer season with an updated product portfolio, higher prices to cushion the cost impact and marketing tailored to different regions and customers.
