NewtekOne, Inc. NEWT | 0.00 |
Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the NewtekOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:NEWT) President, Barry Sloane, recently bought US$71k worth of stock, for US$14.20 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At NewtekOne
In fact, the recent purchase by President Barry Sloane was not their only acquisition of NewtekOne shares this year. Earlier in the year, they paid US$10.27 per share in a US$102k purchase. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$13.61. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
In the last twelve months NewtekOne insiders were buying shares, but not selling. The average buy price was around US$11.50. It is certainly positive to see that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, you should keep in mind that they bought when the share price was meaningfully below today's levels. For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Insiders own 5.3% of NewtekOne shares, worth about US$21m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.

The recent insider purchases are heartening. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions.
