Insider Buys Additional US$20k In O-I Glass Stock
O-I Glass Inc OI | 0.00 |
Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the O-I Glass, Inc. (NYSE:OI) Senior VP & CFO, John Haudrich, recently bought US$20k worth of stock, for US$9.07 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At O-I Glass
The CEO, President & Director Gordon Hardie made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$105k worth of shares at a price of US$13.10 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$8.87). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Does O-I Glass Boast High Insider Ownership?
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that O-I Glass insiders own 2.1% of the company, worth about US$29m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About O-I Glass Insiders?
We note a that there has been a bit of insider buying recently (but no selling). The net investment is not enough to encourage us much. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. Overall we don't see anything to make us think O-I Glass insiders are doubting the company, and they do own shares.
