Italy's Meloni: no regrets on trying to establish good relations with Trump
ROME, July 8 (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday she did not regret trying to establish close ties with U.S. President Donald Trump, despite his recent social media jibes against her.
"No, I absolutely don't regret anything I've done," Meloni said in Ankara, at the end of a NATO summit in which Trump also took part.
Meloni said she would not respond directly to Trump's posts.
She also said Italy would respect NATO defence spending commitments, but would decide on timing and procedures, and prioritise the Italian defence sector.
