Japanese refinery runs down to 72.5% on a weekly basis
TOKYO, April 1 (Reuters) - Japanese refineries slightly cut utilisation rates to 72.5% of designed capacity in the week to March 28 from 73.3% a week earlier, Petroleum Association of Japan data showed on Wednesday.
The refinery utilisation rates are down from more than 80% before the start of the U.S. and Israeli war in Iran, which has disrupted oil supply.
Japan started to partially release oil stockpiles from March 16.
In total, Japan is making available around 50 days' worth of oil consumption and is asking the International Energy Agency to consider the coordinated release of a second batch of stockpiles.
PAJ did not provide a breakdown for the weekly stocks of gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene and diesel.
LNG stockpiles held by major Japanese utilities were at 2.39 million metric tons as of March 22, up from 2.28 million tons a week earlier and the highest so far this year, data from the industry ministry showed separately on Wednesday.
