Largest US power grid predicts all-time electric demand on July 2

June 30 (Reuters) - PJM, the largest U.S. regional grid, on Tuesday forecast an all-time summer demand record on July 2 as scorching temperatures roll across a territory serving 67 million customers.
PJM forecast electric demand of 166.3 gigawatts for Thursday evening, according to the grid operator's latest forecast. The all-time summer demand record, set in 2006, is 165.6 GW.
