HALF-TIME IN EUROPE: RISING SOLIDLY

It is just after the half-way mark in Europe’s trading day, and after starting the day in muted fashion, the cross regional STOXX 600 .STOXX is now firmly higher.

It was last up 0.5%, having pared some earlier gains back. Aerospace and defence stocks .SXPARO led sectoral gains, up 2.2%, while tech stocks .SX8P wobbled to fall 1.3% as Alphabet GOOGL.O earnings loom after the U.S. close.

Indices across Europe were also in the green, with the FTSE .FTSE up 1.3%, the CAC .FCHI rising 0.9% and the DAX .GDAXI adding 0.3%.

Individual stock moves meanwhile were in large parts driven by earnings.

Shares in Randstad RAND.AS were 12.4% higher after the company beat quarterly revenue growth estimates, while shares in Danish freight company DSV DSV.CO were dragged 14% lower by disappointment over its profit growth and earnings, with the company posting a sharp fall in second-quarter cash flow.
