TASI Mid-Market Update — Aug 25, 2026

The Tadawul All Shares Index(TASI.SA) demonstrated positive momentum during mid-day trading, trading higher at 11222.51 points, up by +0.43% compared to the prior close.

Oil prices declined to a one-week low as market participants shifted focus from military escalation risks toward economic pressure surrounding U.S.-Iran tensions. The decrease reflects reduced immediate concern regarding supply disruptions in the Middle East following the announcements of expanded U.S. sanctions.

Brent Crude Futures: Decreased by -2.7% to $89.67 per barrel, marking its lowest level since August 19.

Geopolitical Risk Realignment: Market anxiety eased as Washington prioritized economic sanctions over direct military action. U.S. sanctions aimed at Iran’s economic sectors were perceived by analysts as less immediate in threatening regional crude supplies.

U.S. Sanctions Strategy: The U.S. Treasury Department opted not to immediately enforce secondary penalties on foreign entities, providing trading partners additional time to comply with directives.

Middle East Shipping Vulnerabilities: Despite reduced military risks, residual geopolitical risk premiums persist. A recent strike on an oil tanker northeast of Oman's Ash Shishah highlights ongoing threats to regional maritime routes.

Strait of Hormuz Flow: Transit activity via the Strait of Hormuz recorded a sharp slowdown, with daily commodity vessel transits falling to two tankers—the lowest daily level observed since early May.

Global Supply Impacts: Operational disruptions have led to drawdowns in strategic and commercial oil reserves globally. Separately, Russia's Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery suspended operations following damage from an overnight drone strike.

In the large-cap sector, Al Rajhi Bank(1120.SA) is advancing 1.41%. The Saudi National Bank(1180.SA) is easing by 0.33%. Saudi Arabian Mining Co.(1211.SA) is posting a gain of 0.43%. ACWA POWER Co.(2082.SA) is edging higher by 0.73%. Saudi Basic Industries Corp.(2010.SA) is easing by 0.39%. Saudi Arabian Oil Co.(2222.SA) is seeing a slight dip of 0.60%.
