TASI Mid-Market Update — June 25, 2026

Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index (Tadawul All Shares Index(TASI.SA)) eased 0.4% in early trade on Thursday, pressured by a decline in oil prices and growing expectations of additional U.S. interest rate hikes this year. The market drop was led by financials, including a 1.2% decline in The Saudi National Bank(1180.SA), the kingdom's largest lender by assets.

The downturn across regional equities reflects broader macroeconomic pressures. Oil prices, a primary fiscal catalyst for Gulf financial markets, extended losses toward levels recorded prior to the regional conflict that began on February 28. The pricing pressure follows an initial accord last week aimed at ending hostilities, which has facilitated the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and raised expectations of normalizing Middle East supply.

Simultaneously, persistent inflationary pressures and a hawkish stance from the U.S. Federal Reserve have led market participants to price in a 67% probability of a rate hike in September, with three hikes anticipated overall for the year. Because major Gulf currencies maintain a fixed peg to the U.S. dollar, domestic monetary policy closely mirrors Fed actions, dampening local market sentiment.

In the large-cap sector, Al Rajhi Bank(1120.SA) is edging higher by 0.4%. Saudi Arabian Mining Co.(1211.SA) is under pressure, dropping 2%. ACWA POWER Co.(2082.SA) is easing by 0.3%. Saudi Basic Industries Corp.(2010.SA) is posting a gain of 0.3%. Saudi Arabian Oil Co.(2222.SA) is seeing a slight dip of 0.23%.
