TASI Mid-Market Update — Aug 24, 2026

Tadawul All Shares Index(TASI.SA) continues its breakout for a second consecutive day, advancing by 0.78% to reach its June high.

Crude oil prices retreated during Monday's trading session as investors engaged in profit-taking following consecutive weekly gains of over 5%. The market adjustment occurs ahead of an anticipated U.S. policy announcement regarding heightened economic sanctions on Iran.

Brent Crude: Declined by 1.75% to $92.74 per barrel.

Anticipated U.S. Sanctions: Market participants are awaiting details from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding measures designed to economically isolate Iran, which may include secondary sanctions on international trading partners.

Strait of Hormuz Bottleneck: Diplomatic stalemates continue to restrict transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Recent weekend shipping data indicated that fewer than 20 commodity vessels transited the critical chokepoint.

Trade Adjustments: The ongoing blockade has reduced Iranian shipments, prompting a decline in crude offers to international buyers and elevating prices. However, Iran recently permitted a limited number of Iraqi tankers to navigate the strait following requests from Baghdad.

Tightening Global Inventories: Analysts at Morgan Stanley highlight an intensifying constraint on global crude supplies. Data indicates significant declines in both oil-on-water and onshore inventories (including within China), with aggregate Middle Eastern exports reverting to volume levels last observed in March and April.

In the large-cap sector, Al Rajhi Bank(1120.SA) is rallying, 2.19%. The Saudi National Bank(1180.SA) is edging higher by 0.75%. Saudi Arabian Mining Co.(1211.SA) is holding steady. ACWA POWER Co.(2082.SA) and Saudi Basic Industries Corp.(2010.SA) are both trading higher, moving 1.33% and 1.30% respectively. Saudi Arabian Oil Co.(2222.SA) is posting a gain of 0.38%.
