- Fertilizer maker Mosaic MOS.N said it implemented on Wednesday temporary measures to reduce production at some of its phosphate operations in Brazil given lower global supply and rising prices of raw material sulfur.

In a statement, Mosaic said the duration of the measures remains uncertain, but it stressed they are temporary and do not represent a change in the company's long-term strategy.

  • Mosaic plans to extend temporary shutdowns at production facilities of Tapira and Catalao.

  • It also plans to gradually place its Uberaba complex into care-and-maintenance, starting in September.

  • In its fertilizer blending operations, Candeias and Catalao plants will be temporarily shut down, while production at Palmeirante and Sorriso facilities will be reduced.

  • The measures in the fertilizer blending operations could impact the workforce, Mosaic said.

  • Mosaic cited "a scenario marked by geopolitical instability, disruptions to international shipping routes, increased global demand, and significant pressure on sulfur costs."
