Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced successful scientific research results for its AiON counter unmanned aerial system (CUAS) command and control system. The results, already demonstrated during a live fire test at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, showed AiON's ability to detect, track, identify, and neutralize both simulated and real drone threats with precision and efficiency. The system also proved its advanced safety features, including friendly air track avoidance, and its flexible, open architecture enables integration with new sensors and effectors. These achievements follow a prototype project with the Defense Innovation Unit, and AiON is now eligible for follow-on production transactions by U.S. Department of War organizations without further competition.
