QUICK SPARK: Former a16z Partner Launches $100 Million Fund Focused on Consumer AI Startups
Bryan Kim, a former partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), is starting a new venture firm focused on the next wave of consumer artificial intelligence companies.
Kim is reportedly raising about $100 million for Mido Capital, a fund designed to invest in early-stage startups developing AI-powered products for everyday users, the Wall Street Journal first reported.
Mido Capital aims to identify startups that can build innovative AI products rather than compete directly with the industry’s largest players.
During his time at a16z, Kim worked with the firm’s consumer and AI applications teams and became known for backing promising companies, including voice AI startup ElevenLabs. He also invested in several other emerging businesses across health, social apps, and mental wellness.
