ProShares has launched the ProShares Ultra QQQ Equal Weight ETF (NASDAQ:EQQQ), the first and only ETF, claimed by the issuer, designed to deliver 2x the daily performance of the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index.

Unlike the traditional Nasdaq-100, where mega-cap technology stocks dominate returns, the equal-weighted index assigns the same weight to every constituent at each quarterly rebalance. That reduces concentration risk while increasing exposure to smaller Nasdaq-100 companies.

Key highlights:

  • Expands ProShares’ $85 billion leveraged and inverse ETF lineup
  • Expense ratio: 0.95%
  • ProShares and affiliate ProFunds manage more than $112 billion in assets

QUICK CONTEXT: Equal Weight Gains ETF Momentum

Equal-weight strategies have attracted growing investor interest as the Nasdaq-100 has become increasingly concentrated in a handful of mega-cap technology stocks. By rebalancing all constituents to equal weights every quarter, the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index offers broader exposure across the benchmark, allowing smaller members to have a greater impact on performance.

EQQQ joins ProShares’ lineup of Nasdaq-focused leveraged and inverse ETFs, which includes ProShares UltraPro QQQ (NASDAQ:TQQQ), ProShares Ultra QQQ (NYSE:QLD), ProShares Short QQQ (NYSE:PSQ), ProShares UltraShort QQQ (NYSE:QID) and ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ (NASDAQ:SQQQ).
