Reddit (RDDT) is back in focus after reports that Meta Platforms plans to launch an AI agent called Hatch that can browse Reddit content and integrate it into Meta’s consumer products.

The Meta Hatch news arrives on top of a sharp recent move in Reddit’s share price, with a 1 day share price return of 6.39%, even though the year to date share price return is down 32.84% and the 1 year total shareholder return is down 25.97%. This suggests that short term momentum has picked up while longer term returns remain weak.

Reddit has rallied on the Meta Hatch headlines, yet the stock still trades below both analyst targets and intrinsic value estimates. With that gap this wide, where does a reasonable fair value range actually fall next?

Most Popular Narrative: 48% Undervalued

Reddit last closed at $162.45, while the most followed narrative on the stock, according to kinnth, points to a fair value close to $310 per share.

Successful ad networks are driven fundamentally by usage. The best type of usage is on returning daily users usually measured by Daily Active Users. The higher the number of unique daily active users the higher the ad revenue generated on a per day basis. While ad networks and profitability and growth are generally optimised through delivery i.e. FB size scale and optimisations. In the early stage of a company sheer user number and therefore impressions drive a huge part of the narrative for ad spenders to use the platform.

Curious what powers that valuation gap for Reddit. The narrative leans on rapid user growth, aggressive revenue assumptions and a premium profit multiple usually reserved for mature platforms.

Result: Fair Value of $309.77 (UNDERVALUED)

However, Reddit’s narrative could be challenged if user engagement weakens or if AI data licensing demand falls short of expectations, which would pressure those growth assumptions.

Another View On Reddit Using Market Multiples

While the user narrative and intrinsic models point to Reddit as undervalued, the market’s own pricing sends a different signal. Reddit trades on a P/E of 35.9x compared with 33.1x for peers and 15.4x for the wider US Interactive Media and Services industry.

Its P/E is also above an estimated fair ratio of 33.3x, which implies investors are already paying a premium for expected growth. That premium may be justified or it may limit future upside. Which story do you think the market is really pricing in here?
