Satellogic Chief Financial Officer Acquires 19% More Stock
Satellogic Inc. Class A SATL | 0.00 |
Potential Satellogic Inc. (NASDAQ:SATL) shareholders may wish to note that the Chief Financial Officer, Richard Dunn, recently bought US$197k worth of stock, paying US$5.51 for each share. That's a very decent purchase to our minds and it grew their holding by a solid 19%.
Satellogic Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Founder, Emiliano Kargieman, sold US$2.6m worth of shares at a price of US$3.94 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$7.05. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 25% of Emiliano Kargieman's holding.
Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Satellogic shares, than buying. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!
I will like Satellogic better if I see some big insider buys.
Does Satellogic Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Satellogic insiders own about US$88m worth of shares. That equates to 9.1% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Do The Satellogic Insider Transactions Indicate?
It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchase. But we can't say the same for the transactions over the last 12 months. The more recent transactions are a positive, but Satellogic insiders haven't shown the sustained enthusiasm that we look for, although they do own a decent number of shares, overall. In short they are likely aligned with shareholders. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Satellogic.
