TABLE-India's March Russian oil imports rose to record on Middle East supply hit, data shows
NEW DELHI, April 21 (Reuters) - India's Russian oil imports in March surged to a record 2.25 million barrels per day, about half of the country's overall crude purchases, driven by a U.S. sanctions waiver amid supply disruptions, data obtained from industry sources showed.
India imported 4.5 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil in March, down 12.9% from the previous month and 15.1% from a year earlier, as supplies from the Middle East were hit due to the Iran war, the data showed.
In the 2025/26 fiscal year, India imported an average 4.97 million bpd of oil, up 1.9% from a year ago, according to the data. Russia continued to be the top oil supplier for the fiscal year followed by Iraq and Saudi Arabia, per data.
Here are details of India's crude and condensate imports. Volumes are in 1,000 bpd.

NOTE: The total may not tally as numbers have been rounded after converting them into barrels per day using a conversion factor of 7.3 barrels per metric ton and dividing by the number of days. Previous months' figures may have been revised.
Data includes some crude parcels that arrived in February but discharged in March. It also includes some oil parcels that arrived in March and discharged in April.
