We'd be surprised if Ladder Capital Corp (NYSE:LADR) shareholders haven't noticed that the Founder & Head of Asset Management, Robert Perelman, recently sold US$359k worth of stock at US$10.25 per share. On the bright side, that sale was only 7.5% of their holding, so we doubt it's very meaningful, on its own.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Ladder Capital

The Independent Director, Mark Alexander, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$1.0m worth of shares at a price of US$11.12 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$10.19. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).

Insider Ownership Of Ladder Capital

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Ladder Capital insiders own 13% of the company, worth about US$163m. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
