This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In Torrid Holdings
Torrid Holdings, Inc. CURV | 0.00 |
We note that the Torrid Holdings Inc. (NYSE:CURV) Senior VP, Chinwe Abaelu, recently sold US$55k worth of stock for US$2.17 per share. It wasn't a huge sale, but it did reduce their holding by 11%. This does not instill confidence.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Torrid Holdings
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Executive VP & CFO, Paula Dempsey, for US$88k worth of shares, at about US$2.06 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$2.33, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was 72% of Paula Dempsey's holding.

Insider Ownership
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that Torrid Holdings insiders own 5.5% of the company, worth about US$13m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
So What Do The Torrid Holdings Insider Transactions Indicate?
An insider sold Torrid Holdings shares recently, but they didn't buy any. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. While insiders do own shares, they don't own a heap, and they have been selling. We're in no rush to buy! So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company.
