Treasury's Bessent welcomes Pakistan's reforms, push to return to capital markets

- U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Pakistan's finance minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, on Tuesday and welcomed the country's progress in restoring macroeconomic stability and implementing economic reforms, Treasury said in a statement.

The statement did not address Pakistan's request for a $10 billion exchange stabilization facility, first reported by Reuters.

But Treasury said Bessent emphasized the importance of Pakistan continuing its reforms, and commended the government's commitment to creating the conditions for a successful return to international capital markets.
