UPDATE 1-Anduril discusses new funding at $60 billion-plus valuation, The Information reports

Updates with more details from the report, and background

- U.S. defense firm Anduril is in talks to raise billions in new funding at a valuation of at least $60 billion, The Information reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The funding would give the company greater leeway to finance its first major weapons-manufacturing facility and develop an autonomous fighter jet, the report said.

Anduril was valued at $30.5 billion in a $2.5 billion funding round in June last year, and the new valuation would be roughly double that figure.

Anduril did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment outside regular business hours.

Defense-tech startup Anduril has become one of Silicon Valley's hottest defense bets as drones reshape warfare in Ukraine and U.S. President Donald Trump pushes the Pentagon to adopt cutting-edge technologies to counter China.

Founded in 2017 and backed by Founders Fund, Anduril develops solutions, including a wide range of sensors and drones, and has gained prominence amid increasing calls for low-cost autonomous defense products.
