Adds background, details on production loss in paragraphs 2-4

- Industry group offshore Norway said on Thursday that an oil service workers strike has already resulted in a historical and future production loss for operators of 2.4 million barrels of oil equivalent this year, worth an estimated 1.6 billion Norwegian crowns ($163.62 million).

Around 1,000 Norwegian oil service workers were locked out in late June in response to an ongoing strike by several hundred members of Norway's Safe union.

Offshore Norway said five mobile drilling rigs, five fixed offshore installations and one well intervention vessel had completely suspended drilling and well operations. Four inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessels were also affected, it added.

Production losses are continuing to rise and are expected to reach around 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by the end of mid-July.
