- A U.S. court ordered utility DTE Energy DTE.N and subsidiaries to pay $100 million and comply with the Clean Air Act over a violation related to a coke facility on Zug Island in Michigan, the Justice Department said on Tuesday.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said permits must be sought within 250 days from the New Source Review, a Clean Air Act program, and the applications will include stringent pollution control proposals, according to a release.

DTE Energy said it would appeal the ruling.

"We remain committed to compliance and have been operating within the limits of the valid original state permit – both today and during the time period in question," a spokesperson for the company said in a statement.
