MEXICO CITY, July 22 (Reuters) - Walmart's Mexico and Central America unit Walmex WALMEX.MX, reported on Wednesday a 0.7% drop in its second-quarter net profit and revised its outlook for the full year due to softer consumption during the three-month period.
Net profit for Mexico's largest retailer was 11.15 billion pesos ($637.19 million) for the April-June period, landing above the 10.99 billion pesos predicted by analysts polled by LSEG.
The dip in profit was driven by softer-than-expected consumption during the World Cup, weak traffic at its Mexican discount stores, and rising expenses from investments in new stores and e-commerce.
Revenues for the quarter were up 1.9% from the same quarter in 2025 to reach 250.95 billion pesos ($14.3 billion), falling short of the LSEG estimate of 251 billion pesos.
The company also said it expects its full-year sales growth to be between 3.5% and 4.5% in constant currency.
