- U.S. liquefied natural gas company Cheniere Energy's LNG.N Corpus Christi LNG export plant in Texas was on track to take in more natural gas on Thursday after liquefaction trains 1-6 at the Midscale Stage 3 expansion shut down on Wednesday, data from financial firm LSEG showed.

Cheniere said in a report to Texas environmental regulators that it shut the Stage 3 Midscale Trains 1-6 on Wednesday morning after the facility experienced an upset due to high LNG rundown pressure.

Officials at Cheniere had no comment.

  • LSEG said the amount of gas flowing to Corpus was on track to rise to 2.61 billion cubic feet per day on Thursday, up from 2.14 bcfd on Wednesday and a prior seven-day average of 1.81 bcfd.

  • If correct, the 2.61 bcfd of feedgas on Thursday would be the highest since flows to the plant hit a daily record of 2.64 bcfd on January 31, according to LSEG data.

  • Feedgas to the plant has been reduced since the start of June due in part to spring maintenance, energy analysts and traders said.

  • When all units at Corpus are operating, the plant can turn about 3.5 bcfd of gas into LNG.

  • The plant has three 0.8-bcfd trains 1-3 operating and seven 0.2-bcfd midscale trains operating and under construction.
