US Cash Grains-Corn basis flat to lower as futures firm
CHICAGO, May 13 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn were flat to lower at U.S. Midwest elevators and ethanol plants on Wednesday, a spot check of locations showed, as futures ticked up slightly.
The corn basis weakened at an elevator in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and at an ethanol plant in Annawan, Illinois.
The corn basis rose, however, at a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois. It was unchanged at other locations in the spot check.
The soybean basis fell at the Cincinnati elevator and was flat elsewhere.
On the Chicago Board of Trade, corn and soybean futures edged higher as traders watched for any deals for China to buy U.S. crops or the feed ingredient called distillers dried grains with solubles, or DDGS. GRA/
This autumn, U.S. growers will harvest their second-largest soybean crop on record, while corn production is expected to drop 6% from last year, the USDA said in its first official forecast of the 2026/27 crop season.
