US grid operator PJM forecasts sufficient generation for peak demand this summer

- PJM Interconnection, the largest U.S. power grid operator, said on Thursday that it was prepared to meet peak power demand this summer.

PJM added that it was prepared to call on contracted demand response resources to reduce power use during times of high system stress.

With energy demand, or load expected to peak at approximately 156,400 MW this summer, PJM said that it has approximately 180,200 MW of generation capacity to serve demand, as well as approximately 7,800 MW of contracted demand response.
