WASHINGTON, March 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. International Trade Commission said on Tuesday it launched a new Section 337 trade investigation into imported auto parts from Taiwan and China based on a complaint by General Motors GM.N, which claims the imports violated its patents.

The USITC said it has identified 20 respondents in the investigation, including Jiangsu Srumto Auto Parts Co Ltd, in Danang City, China, a maker of automotive lighting products, and several Taiwanese parts manufacturers, including AP Auto Parts Industrial Ltd and Gordon Auto Body Parts Co Ltd. The panel also named nine U.S. auto parts distributors in Michigan, Illinois, California and Tennessee as respondents.

GM's complaint requests a ban on imports of the parts that infringe its patents, the panel said.
