Shares of Avalon Holdings Corporation (NYSE:AWX) rose sharply in pre-market trading after the company reported second-quarter financial results.

Avalon Holdings, on Friday, posted quarterly earnings of 23 cents per share, up from 7 cents per share in the year-ago period. The company’s sales rose to $20.898 million from $20.252 million in the year-ago quarter.

Avalon Holdings shares jumped 10.5% to $2.8399 in pre-market trading.
