Will SpaceX's Next Starship Flight Launch This Week? Crypto Bettors Raise the Odds After New Announcement

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) said on Sunday that it is gearing up for Starship’s next flight test on Thursday, sparking a sharp jump in odds on prediction markets.
Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket now gives a 55% chance to Starship’s thirteenth flight test launching on Thursday, up significantly from the 23% seen before SpaceX’s announcement.
Similarly, the odds that the flight takes off by the end of the month stood at 89%.
Over $440,000 has already been wagered on the outcome. The rules stated that any anomaly or “explosion” after launch would have no bearing on the outcome.
Starship’s Hits And Misses
Odds moved following the aerospace company’s announcement that it is gearing up for a launch “as early as Thursday,” after its scheduled takeoff earlier in the week was scrubbed due to an engine malfunction.
SpaceX stated that the upcoming flight aims to “complete similar objectives” to those targeted during the twelfth flight test in May, which was rough but ultimately successful.
The upper stage had a successful flight, released 20 test satellites and splashed down safely. The Super Heavy booster, however, had engine failures during its return.
Because the booster crashed hard rather than performing a controlled descent, the Federal Aviation Administration classified it as a mishap and started an investigation. Later, the FAA accepted SpaceX’s corrective actions and cleared the company to move forward with the Starship test flight campaign
Starship is central to Musk’s plan to expand SpaceX’s spaceflight capacity and eventually send humans to Mars. The space technology giant has spent more than $15 billion developing Starship.
Price Action: SpaceX shares were up 1.08% overnight after closing 5.43% lower at $123.99 during Friday’s regular trading session
